Objectives

The principal aim of this Programme is to initiate a dialogue between representatives of actors in the field of human rights, peace and security and to develop action-oriented projects.

 Specifically, the Programme aims to:

- Develop understanding of the practical implications of a Rights-Based Approach

- Develop understanding of the practical meaning of a rights based perspective and its relationship with poverty reduction, including promotion of peace and security

- Develop understanding of relevant regional and international human rights instruments

- Develop capacity in project management (result-based management)

- Develop capacity to share gained knowledge through for example information and training

Target Group

 

Target Countries: Representatives from Cambodia, Colombia, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Timor Leste

The programme admits 25 participants. The Programme is primarily designed for mid-level and senior officials in organizations working with human rights i.e. governmental organizations, judicial and police authorities, human rights commissions, civil society organizations, academic institutions, media, private sector.

 

Contents

The training programme is focused on post-conflict and tranistional countries. Phase II focuses on theoretical and practical components within the field of human rights, peace and security.

 Phase II of the training programme takes place in Uppsala Sweden and includes three modules:

1. Human Rights and a Rights-Based Approach  - theory and practise

2. Conflict, Peace and Security - theory and methods

3. Change Managment and Capacity Development
